On July 3rd, my 6 year old son had a minor accident on a riding toy. We took him to an UTC where they didn’t see a fracture and splinted it. Fast forward a week – we ended up seeing an orthopedic doctor who said his elbow was indeed fractured and he would need a long arm cast. All I could think about was the remainder of his summer – he had just learned to ride his bike without training wheels the week prior to his accident; no more pool visits, no boats/lake visits, and it looked as though the beach visit later in the summer may be difficult or even impossible.
